Melissa Hernandez
Melissa Hernandez, started her dance training at a very early age, studying many genres such as ballet, jazz, hip-hop and lyrical. She was on the Palm Springs Illusions Dance Team and went on to becoming an HML Sapphire Dancer where she was captain of the squad. She competed in several Regional and National cheer and dance competitions.
Melissa also trained with and performed for Jimmy from season three of “So You Think You Can Dance.” Melissa has participated and performed at “Relay for Life” and Hispanic Heritage events. She is a former dancer of the Florida Panthers Ice Dancers (a professional NHL dance team) from the years 2010- 2011. She then attended Miami- Dade Wolfson Campus, where she trained with Professor Delma Iles from 2012-2014. In 2014, Melissa completed her Associates Degree in Arts at Miami Dade College and was accepted into the prestigious dance program at Nova Southeastern University where she has earned her Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts in dance.
While at Nova, she had the opportunity to work with choreographers Sabrina Talamo and Marissa Alma Nick. She also had the chance to work with Professor Augusto Soledade where she was introduced to a unique form of dance. Melissa has been the Dance Coach/Director for the Hive Preparatory Charter School since 2014, where she built the dance program from the ground up. She also has the joy to be the director of two ballet programs at local Pre-Schools; Miss Carusi Learning Center and My Little School.
Melissa started teaching at Dance Tech Studios Miami in 2009 under the direction of Jackie Vilarino Estrella for where she started as a Teacher, Assistant manager, Manager, Director and became the owner in 2017 where she renamed the business to Dance Tech Studios M.H. She has continued to share her knowledge as a teacher at Hive Preparatory Charter School. Both DTS & the HDT have both been awarded Regional & National Championships. In 2020 Melissa was awarded the Standout Teacher award from CRU Dance Competition.
Jhoana Peñuela's journey in dance commenced at the tender age of 5, embarking on a transformative path at Dance Tech Studios under the guidance of Ms. Melissa, who evolved from a dance teacher to a cherished mentor and friend. Despite initial challenges and discouragement, her unwavering dedication led her to explore various dance styles, including jazz, contemporary, flamenco, and hip-hop, which she now passionately imparts at Dance Tech.
Maitte Pereira is an esteemed international professional dancer and dance teacher, currently excelling as a Miami Dolphins cheerleader and dedicating herself as a dance teacher and coach for Miami-Dade schools. With a dynamic background, Maitte brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her roles.
With three years as a Miami Dolphins cheerleader and prior experience as a Royal Caribbean dancer, Maitte has graced prestigious stages and performed alongside internationally renowned artists such as Jhayco, Rick Ross, Uncle Luke, Trick Daddy, Bella Dose, among others. She has contributed to performances, productions, and TV commercials for top brands including Coca-Cola, Samsung, Pilsener, and Ecuador Got Talent, captivating global audiences.
